Chapter 3

　　Lin Yuan said, "Brother, why is it so early? I haven't woken up yet."

　　Lin Rui pretended to be plain and said, "Get up quickly. I have bought breakfast and it will arrive in a while."

　　"Hmm?" Before Lin Yuan could say anything, Lin Rui hung up the phone. She felt very strange. Is this still the brother who is indifferent to everything?

　　Lin Rui did indeed arrive soon. The two of them were having breakfast, and Lin Yuan felt a bit uncomfortable. Although she was a brother and sister, her relationship with her family had never been very good. Since middle school, she has rarely stayed at home, and her brother has always been very cold to her.

　　"The old dormitory of the Postal Bureau," Lin Yuan replied, "actually went there last night, but unfortunately, someone fell off the building there, and the police are investigating..."

　　"I really haven't slept well," Lin Yuan recalled last night when she dreamed of the woman who had fallen from a building. She said, "I had a strange dream."

　　"You didn't dream of me, did you?" Lin Rui deliberately said lightly.

　　"Yes," Lin Yuan said, "Brother, why do you know everything?"

　　Lin Rui just said, "Where is the hairpin? Don't you think this hairpin looks strange?"

　　"It's strange, but I like it very much," said Lin Yuan after drinking soybean milk. "When I see the owner of the hairpin, I'm going to buy it."

　　Lin Rui looked at Lin Yuan and said, "Didn't last night's dream scare you? You still want to keep a hairpin!"

　　Lin Yuan also looked at Lin Rui and said, "Brother, did you have the same dream as me? You called early in the morning, are you worried about me? But I only had such an absurd dream because I heard someone fall from a building when I went to the post office dormitory last night. There's nothing to worry about."

　　Lin Rui didn't start at first. As soon as Lin Yuan finished speaking, he turned his head and looked at Lin Yuan, saying, "You didn't dream of a hairpin?"

　　"Hairpin?" Lin Yuan recalled her dream, vaguely realizing that she had dreamed of a hairpin, but couldn't recall it. Suddenly, Lin Yuan let out a "ah" cry, pressing her hands on her forehead.

　　"Xiao Yuan!" Lin Rui quickly stood up, grabbed her shoulder, and said, "What's wrong with her forehead?"

　　Lin Yuan put down her hand and said strangely, "Just now, there was a sharp pain in her eyebrows, and now it's okay again."

　　Lin Rui remembered his dream again and immediately said, "Don't buy this hairpin."

　　"Why?" Lin Yuan said discontentedly, "It was just a dream of a woman falling off a building, it didn't scare me, it seemed to scare you, brother."

　　"If I say no, then no!" Lin Rui said forcefully as he walked towards Lin Yuan's bedroom. He knew that Lin Yuan would always put things she liked by the bedside.

　　Entering the room, I suddenly felt a bit chilly. It didn't seem like the temperature that a room with a window facing south should have in early summer.

　　Lin Yuan followed closely and picked up the jade hairpin from the pillow before Lin Rui.

　　"Xiao Yuan..." Lin Rui stared at the jade hairpin without saying anything further.

　　Lin Yuan followed his gaze and saw that the end of the jade hairpin's stem was actually dark red.

　　"What is this?" Lin Yuan asked in a low voice, touching the needle stem with her fingers.

　　"It's dried blood," Lin Rui replied in a low voice.

　　"Blood stains?" Lin Yuan looked up and smiled at Lin Rui, half jokingly asking, "Did I disfigure myself?"

　　Lin Rui was about to get angry, but looking at Lin Yuan's smile, his heart couldn't help but be moved. He quickly awkwardly turned around and walked out. In the living room outside, the sunshine was indeed much brighter, not so cold.

　　Lin Yuan went to the restroom to clean the stains on the jade hairpin, and as she walked out, she said, "I don't know what it's got."

　　Lin Rui didn't answer. Lin Yuan looked at the time and said, "Brother, I'm going out."

　　"I'll see you off," Lin Rui said calmly.

　　Lin Yuan didn't want her brother to stop her from buying jade hairpins anymore, so she said, "No need, I'll take a walk."

　　"Let's go, I know you're going to pay for the jade hairpin, and I'll accompany you on the walk," Lin Rui said as he opened the door and waited for Lin Yuan outside.

　　Lin Yuan walked out helplessly and said, "Brother, you've changed. Don't you think it's sudden to care about me like this?"

　　Lin Rui didn't answer, turned around and walked in the corridor. Lin Yuan looked at his back. If it were his brother in memory, he would definitely not turn back. However, when Lin Rui turned back, he said, "What are you staring at?"

　　Lin Yuan let out an "oh" sound and closed the door. She walked up to Lin Rui and didn't expect him to suddenly reach out and grab her hand. Lin Yuan looked up in surprise at her brother, but his face remained calm and his hand never let go.

　　This unfamiliar familiarity made Lin Yuan a little uneasy. If she was used to accepting her brother's indulgence, and one day, his brother would regain his initial coldness, would she be very sad?

　　In their wild thoughts, the two of them had arrived at the front of the dormitory building, with bloodstains still on the ground. Occasionally, people entering and exiting the building would shudder and then walk around.

　　Even during the day, the corridor was very dark. Stepping up the stairs, Lin Yuan and Lin Rui both felt the same feeling as walking on the stairs in their dream last night.

　　On the fourth floor, 402 is on the right side. Lin Yuan knocked on the door, but no one answered. She continued knocking a few more times. After a while, when they were about to go downstairs, the door was opened with a "squeak" sound, and a woman in red stood at the door.

　　She has long hair draped over her shoulders, a fair face, delicate red lips, and dark black eyes, just like the woman who fell from a dream.

　　Lin Yuan and Lin Rui glanced at each other, and the woman asked in a cold voice, "What's up?"

　　"Oh, my name is Lin Yuan, and this is my brother Lin Rui. Yesterday, I found this photo at the antique market in the western suburbs," Lin Yuan said, taking out the photo and pointing to the address on the back of the photo. "The address here is written on the back. I came here to buy the jade hairpin on the photo."

　　The woman in red stepped back and allowed Lin Yuan and Lin Rui to enter the room. The room was not dark, but it felt a bit chilly. The sunlight outside the window was shining brightly, but it couldn't dispel the cold inside. Lin Rui felt that it was the same feeling as Lin Yuan's room.
