So fearsome was the sight that the enemy, struck with terror, abandoned the siege and fled.”  Li Bai smiled and said, “I had the fortune to witness General Pei’s unparalleled skill with my own eyes. That day, I was at his residence alongside Wu Daozi. The general rode like the wind, his movements swift and fluid. With a flick of his wrist, he sent his sword soaring into the sky—higher than ten dozen feet—before it plunged back to earth like a streak of lightning. At the last moment, he caught it effortlessly in its scabbard, the blade slicing through the air and gliding into the hall with unerring precision.
